Sanjeev Chanana

Sanjeev Kumar Chanana is a well known name in the area of Investment Management and a veteran in the Indian insurance sector. Having held a variety of leadership positions across both life and non-life segments, for more than four decades, he is presently on the Board of Directors of The New India Assurance Company Limited, Mumbai, and is also a Trustee of the National Pension Scheme Trust(NPS) under the PFRDA.

He joined Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in 1977 and superannuated in 2013 from The Oriental Insurance Company Limited (OIC) as an Executive Director. As a CIO, and a well-regarded technology change maker, he is credited with the digitalization of OIC’s core solution – making it the first public sector Non-Life Insurance Company to implement the fully integrated framework in 2007 – for which he was felicitated with the CIOL Award, as the best CIO in the Insurance sector -2009.

With more than 20 years’ experience in corporate management, and handling investment assets of LIC, OIC and thereafter as Advisor in The Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited, New Delhi (AICIL), Mr. Chanana has also been a Nominee Director on the Boards of Modi Rubber Limited and Punjab Tractors Limited (later taken over by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited).

Mr. Chanana is a Post graduate in Economics from The Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, and also holds a Degree in Law from Delhi University. He is also a Member of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
